Coming Soon: Puppet Labs’ First-Ever Certification Program

Coming Soon: Puppet Labs’ First-Ever Certification Program:
I’m pleased to announce that after months of design and development, we at Puppet Labs have completed the creation of the Puppet Professional and Puppet Developer certification exams. Our brand new Puppet Certification Program will premiere at PuppetConf on September 26, with the initial 144 paid conference registrants to be the first to take the certification exams. There’s still room to register for PuppetConf and take one of the certification exams at no additional cost. Sign up today to claim your spot, and be among the first to try your hand at getting Puppet certified.
Why introduce Puppet certification? There’s been an upswing, not only in Puppet and Puppet Enterprise customer adoption (we’re talking 3.5 million downloads in the past 12 months alone), but also in Puppet’s user base. Demand for sysadmins with Puppet expertise is now greater than ever. In fact, Wall Street Journal reported last year that keyword search for “Puppet skills” on Indeed.com had tripled over the previous 12 months. It came as no surprise that we needed to extend our Puppet training to include a formal certification program that could clearly differentiate certified Puppet Professionals from the general Puppet user community.
What’s In It for You?
If you pass a Puppet exam, you won’t just earn certification and bragging rights; you’ll stand out in a job market clamoring for skilled Puppet professionals. Getting Puppet certified means the potential for increased employability, and respect by peers and employers for your Puppet expertise. It also means you’ll help companies using Puppet maximize their investment in the software, and reduce downtime and support costs.
Put Your Puppet Skills to the Test (Literally)
Please note: the Puppet certification exams are not for the novice Puppet user. These are challenging, high-stakes tests designed to measure your proficiency in managing your IT infrastructure using Puppet (if you take the Puppet Professional exam), or developing extensions for Puppet in Ruby (if you take the Puppet Developer exam).
If you can’t make it to PuppetConf in late-September, no worries. Our certification exams will be available at world-wide Pearson VUE testing centers shortly after the conference, starting October 1.
Final Notes
I wish to express my appreciation to our Professional Services and the Engineering teams for their tremendous contributions in time, expertise, and focus toward the creation of our Puppet Certification exams, as well as our new Puppet Fundamentals Course. If you have any questions about the certification program, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at certification@puppetlabs.com. I hope to meet some of you at PuppetConf in September and get feedback on how the test went for you. Good luck!
