You may have read that our education & certification team is building an online learning environment for our users. While we're not ready to pull the sheets off just yet, we wanted to let you in on some of the thinking behind our decision to build it.

Currently, Puppet Labs offers education opportunities through our instructor-led courses (Puppet Fundamentals, Advanced Puppet, and Extending Puppet) and our Learning Puppet VM (with its associated tutorials). We wholeheartedly recommend you take advantage of these opportunities.

But … there might be some of you who don't have the time and/or budget for our instructor-led courses.

Maybe you're interested in learning about something that we didn't, or couldn't, cover in one of our instructor-led courses. Maybe the thought of setting up a VM and stepping through a series of tutorials is daunting. Maybe you just need to brush up on a single topic and don't want to wade through the online documentation. Or, you might be preparing for our certification examsand want to learn as much as you can. Whatever your situation, we believe the Puppet Labs Classroom can help.

The central idea behind the Classroom is to provide short, single-topic courses you can consume at your own pace. We're aiming to keep each course  10-15 minutes long, covering a single topic in Puppet or one of its surrounding technologies (such as MCollective, Facter, or PuppetDB). We will also provide courses specific to other topics, including Puppet Enterpriseand the Puppet Forge.

We believe you should be in control of your learning experience, and we want to make that experience as easy as possible. You can expect the Classroom to go live in the near future. In the meantime, visit Puppet Labs Online Learning to see a list of course categories, and to view a short "What is Puppet?" video we used as a test case for our courses.
