CloudStack guy Peder Ulander is decamping from Citrix for Cisco, where he will be VP of product marketing for collaboration.
Ulander, who confirmed the move Wednesday morning, was quick to say that his decision is no knock on Citrix or CloudStack, the open-source cloud Citrix backed against OpenStack. Cisco is seen as an OpenStack proponent although it too does some CloudStack work.
"I'll do my best to stay engaged in the Apache CloudStack project and help it get beyond individual developers to a broader audience," he said
He said the move to Cisco reunites him with old friends and colleagues from past lives at Sun Microsystems and Symantec who are working on Cisco's cloud and mobility effort.
At Cisco, he will work with Rowan Trollope, SVP and GM of collaboration technology and report to Doug Merritt, SVP of products and solutions marketing.
Ulander came to Citrix by virtue of its acquisition of Cloud.com two years ago and has been a vocal advocate of CloudStack adoption. This is his last week at Citrix and he starts Monday at Cisco.
