Opscode European Revenue Grows 400 Percent in Past 12 Months with Klarna, PaddyPower, and Schuberg Philis Among Customers Using Enterprise Chef™ to Automate Business to Hyper-Speed;

Leading UK-Based IT Recruitment Firm Reports Opscode Chef in Top Ten IT Contract 'Skills on the Rise' in Q3 2013

LONDON – November 13, 2013 – From Velocity Europe, Opscode®, the leader in IT automation, today announced substantial momentum for its European operations as enterprise businesses look to turbo-charge the delivery of goods and services with new IT automation platforms. Opscode's year-over-year European revenue grew more than 400 percent since October 2012, with Klarna (see separate press release), PaddyPower, and Schuberg Philis among nearly 100 European companies using Enterprise Chef™ as their primary information technology automation platform for both infrastructure and applications.

"The enterprise shift to the digital world as the primary touch point for customers is a global phenomenon across all industries. To compete in this new landscape where speed is the primary currency, IT organizations must automate the management and delivery of infrastructure and applications," said Barry Crist, CEO, Opscode. "Chef adoption, powered by our extraordinary Community, has surged over the past twelve months across the European technology landscape."

In recent survey conducted by The IT Job Board in the UK, entitled, "Q3 2013 Market Report" the leading IT recruiting and placement firm found that Opscode Chef™ was one of the top ten contract skills on the rise in the UK and held the highest average daily salary of the group at £450.

PaddyPower is Ireland's largest bookmaker, serving Ireland and the UK with online, mobile, and physical retail outlets. To squeeze their cycle times from concept to cash, the sports betting company deployed Enterprise Chef combined with Cloudify to automate resource configuration and application delivery for its CloudStack infrastructure. Using Enterprise Chef, PaddyPower created a continuous delivery workflow capable of deploying app updates in minutes instead of days.

"Our business is fast paced and dynamic so we are always under pressure to deliver," said John Turner, Software Development Manager, PaddyPower. "Using Chef and Cloudify to automate our Cloudstack resources made us fast and nimble. Plus, the Chef Community is super active, giving us a valuable resource for building repeatable infrastructure and app delivery processes."

Klarna is a Sweden-based company, offering zero-friction and safe online payment solutions. At the core of Klarna's services is the concept of after delivery payments, which lets buyers receive ordered good before any payment is due. At the same time, Klarna assumes the credit-and-fraud risk for merchants. Klarna is one of Europe's fastest growing companies, reaching more than 800 employees, 15 million end-users, and 70 million transactions in just eight years. To power its diverse range of services, Klarna employees a multi-tiered hybrid infrastructure centered on a large virtualized server installation complemented by physical and cloud resources.

"We're updating or introducing new applications almost daily to keep pace with demand," said Pär Isaksson, CIO, Klarna. "It would be impossible to manually build, test, and deploy these applications across an infrastructure as heterogeneous as ours. Enterprise Chef empowers our engineering teams to spin up test environments, stage, and deploy applications at will, so we can move at the speed of demand."

Opscode will be cooking up awesome at Velocity London, November 13-15, at the Hilton London Metropole in Exhibitor Booth #307.
