#ChefConf Keynote Spotlight: Jez Humble's 'DevOps Culture and Practices to Create Flow'
// Chef Blog
We're just over a month away from #ChefConf 2014 and have already spotlighted some very cool training opportunities and released the full show agenda.
To continue answering the question, "Why should I attend?" we'll be spotlighting each of the keynote presentations and a handful of the session presentations over the next few weeks. Today we kick things off with the one and only Jez Humble.
Though Jez needs no introduction, it's still worth noting he's the co-author of the Jolt Award-winning Continuous Delivery, published in Martin Fowler's Signature Series (Addison Wesley, 2010), and the forthcoming Lean Enterprise, in Eric Ries' Lean series. Jez has worked as a software developer, product manager, consultant, and trainer across a wide variety of domains and technologies. His focus is on helping organizations deliver valuable, high-quality software frequently and reliably through implementing effective engineering practices.
Jez will be hitting the #ChefConf main stage on Thur., April 17, at 4:20 pm to present, "DevOps Culture And Practices To Create Flow." In his talk, Jez will build on #ChefConf's "Stirring Up Delight" theme:
"Delighting customers through the fast flow of features into production depends, like other capabilities, on repetition and habit. In this talk, I present some observations on plant floor engineering and operations (the birthplace of Lean), and then derive the behaviors, rituals and processes that are essential to fast flow in software development. Some practices you'll have heard of, but some will be surprising and novel. We'll show how these practices are all interrelated, and how to institute them to create a culture of continuous learning leading to happy users, fast flow, and fulfilled practitioners."
Be sure to catch Jez's keynote on Thursday during #ChefConf. And if you haven't registered yet, do so today!
