CloudCentral Upgrades to the CumuLogic Eagle Release [feedly]

CloudCentral Upgrades to the CumuLogic Eagle Release
// Build AWS-compatible Private Clouds with CumuLogic

CloudCentral has recently upgraded to the Eagle release of the CumuLogic Cloud Services Platform, and is now offering the full array of CumuLogic-enabled cloud services to their customers. We here at CumuLogic want to extend our congratulations to CloudCentral on the successful upgrade!

In a recent post by the CloudCentral team, they make a very important point: the "cloud" is a tool. I agree, but to expand on the idea a bit: the cloud should really be considered a toolbox. Each cloud service is a tool that can be used together (with other services) to build a vast array of system designs. It's sometimes easy to forget that you are best served using a collection of tools, especially when you're faced with a deadline or pressured to get through your ever growing list of to-dos. Frequently, it may seem like the easiest thing to use is whatever you have right in front of you. To stretch the analogy perhaps a bit too far: just because you have a hammer, every part of an application's architecture shouldn't be nailed together.

The trick to avoiding "everything is a nail" is to be sure that you are using a cloud that offers you the full set of services you should expect: from raw VMs to DBaaS, with LBaaS and Messaging as a Service, and everything in between. Remember that you need more than a hammer to build an application, so make sure that the cloud you have in front of you offers a full toolbox.

And now that CloudCentral is running the latest CumuLogic Cloud Services Platform software, their customers have exactly the type of cloud service options I'm talking about. If you haven't taken a look at the CloudCentral portfolio of Cloud Services, you should. They are even offering a free trial for new customers.

And if you're interested in bringing these services to users of your cloud, we would love to hear from you.

Happy building!
