Release Candidate for Open Source Chef Server 11.1.0
// Chef Blog
Hello Chefs,
We've got a release candidate ready for the open source Chef server 11.1.0,
11.1.0-rc.2
It's a .2 because an earlier release candidate was lacking a Rails CVE update for the WebUI.
The release candidate contains several new features, such as full IPv6 support and a new chef-server-ctl upgrade command. It also switches back to the gecode depsolver for cookbook dependency resolution, which should address the pain some of you have been feeling.
There are also a number of bug fixes included.
Changelog and Release Notes
A full changelog with detailed descriptions of everything can be found here:
https://github.com/opscode/omnibus-chef-server/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md
The release notes are here:
http://docs.opscode.com/release/osc_11-1/release_notes.html
Note that the changelog and documentation for this release are still being worked on and are subject to updates.
How to Obtain the RC
To obtain the release candidate, you can use the Omnitruck API to download it. Details on the API are here: http://docs.opscode.com/api_omnitruck.html#chef-server-downloads
For example, to download the RC for a CentOS 6 x86_64 platform, the url you would use would be http://www.opscode.com/chef/download-server?p=el&pv=6&m=x86_64&v=latest&prerelease=true
Replace the appropriate values with your platform of choice.
Feedback
Give things a spin and let us know how it looks. If all goes well the release will follow next week. If anything is amiss, open a ticket, email the mailing list, or report it in IRC. I'm mmzyk on IRC if you want to seek me out directly.
Thanks.
