Countdown to RICON 2014

In just one week, RICON 2014 will take over the Palms in Las Vegas. On October 27-29, RICON will bring together engineers, developers, architects, academics and industry thought leaders to discuss all things distributed systems. Tickets are still available – sign up here before it's too late.
Training
RICON 2014 will kick off on Monday, October 27 with Build a Cloud Day presented by Citrix Systems. This full-day training is designed to expose attendees to the concepts and best practices around deploying cloud computing infrastructure. It's a crash course on open source cloud computing covering everything from hypervisor selections to IaaS platforms and application management.
Day 1
Conference sessions will officially begin on Tuesday, October 28 with a keynote presentation from Marten Mickos, SVP and general manager of cloud, HP Helion. Day one will feature the following sessions:
- Alex Heneveld and Duncan Johnston-Watt, Cloudsoft – Using Clocker to Deploy and Manage Distributed Applications in a Docker Cloud
- David Pick, Braintree – Building a Real-Time Data Pipeline with Clojure and Kafka
- Oleg Avdeev, AdRoll – Scale Down! Making High Performance Analytics Easy
- Sean Cribbs, Basho – A Brief History of Time in Riak
- And more!
During our afternoon keynote, Mac Devine, CTO, IBM Cloud Services Division will present, "The Perfect Storm Intensifies – Distributed Systems at the Convergence of Big Data, Cloud and the Internet of Things." Tuesday evening we're hosting a RICON after party at the exclusive MOON Nightclub located on the top floor of the Palms – you won't want to miss it!
Day 2
Day two of RICON will start off with a keynote by Mark Interrante, SVP of engineering, HP Helion. The day will then feature sessions from the following:
- James Watters, Pivotal
- Colin Hemmings, Dataloop.io – Event Processing in Riak
- Michal Ptaszek, Riot Games – Let's Chat about Chat
- Sean O'Connor, Bit.ly – Deploying All Day Without Breaking The Internet

Peter Alvaro, PhD candidate at UC Berkeley unveil new research in his keynote "Outwards from the Middle of the Maze." The day will close out with a Think Distributed panel. The full agenda is now posted.
